Lundagård reported on the 15 February that Eva Wiberg, pro vice-chancellor at Lund University, travelled for hundreds of thousands during 2016. This is in violates of the University’s travel policy.

On Wednesday The University Board at Lund University decided to start an investigation to see if Eva Wiberg’s travels have violated the University’s policy.

The internal audit has fourteen days to compile a report to be presented to the board.

“The audit committee recommended that the board should review Eva Wiberg’s business trips during 2015 and 2016 in order to see if they were in accordance with the rules regarding business trips. They have been given a time limit of fourteen days and after that they will report to the board and we will see what actions will be necessary”, says Jonas Hafström, chairman of the University Board.

Eva Wiberg has previously stated that the reasons for her expensive flights have been an agreement with Vice-Chancellor Torbjörn von Schantz.

This was refuted by Torbjörn von Schantz in an interview with the student magazine Spionen.

“This is of course something I should have talked to her about, regarding how she travels and not only when she travels. Eva should not be blamed for this and I should have reacted to this sooner”, says Torbjörn von Schantz to Spionen.

According to Lund University’s travel policy, the business trips are to be as cost efficient as possible.

Despite that Eva Wiberg chose to travel business class on all trips outside of Europe. Her total travel expenses for trips abroad during 2016 were about 219,000 SEK.

“The trips differ in that they have cost a lot of money. But at the same time she has also travelled a lot and has had that as her job”, says Torbjörn von Schantz to Spionen.

“The rule is not as soon as it is outside of Europe; you are to fly business class. Then perhaps you should not take the trip”, says Torbjörn von Schantz.

Lundagård has sought Torbjörn von Schantz for a comment.
